In mid-2015 AusNet Services made a strategic decision to transfer the Data Maintenance activities currently performed by Cyient to Geomatic Technologies (GT) within Select Solutions. GT has extensive spatial and data management experience and was able to propose a compelling delivery model that incorporates an onshore team of employees and management, from an offshore service provider (Cyient). The aim of the revised delivery model is to reduce cost whilst retaining high quality, and in the long term utilise the capability within GT to transform the workflow through process improvement and technical integration.

The new Data Maintenance model commenced in November 2015 with a “Transition Phase” of 2 months. There were a number of key focus areas within this “Transition Phase” which included those below:

  • COE Setup
  • Cross Border Transfer
  • Intra-Hyderabad Transfer
  • ICT Infrastructure
  • Security Protocols
  • Service Level Achievement

To ensure that every stage of the “Transition Phase” was completed, GT representatives visited the offshore offices of Cyient (Hyderabad, India) in Mid November 2015. The “Transition Phase” is now complete and was successful on all fronts.

The Data Maintenance Project under the new model and GT Management has now (Jan 2016) entered into a BAU phase with 9 GT personnel based at Level 15, 452 Flinders St and 70 Cyient personnel based in Hyderabad, India.

This opportunity is a great example of AusNet Services and GT/Select Solutions working together to deliver a significant business benefit.
