Track curve and grade survey helps ARTC optimise speed profiles on its network

Early in 2015, GT was engaged by the Australia Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) to perform a track curvature and gradient study in order to better understand current track alignment. It was envisaged that this information would allow ARTC to optimise speed profiles on its network and identify curves that did not conform to design.

In our September 2013 Newsletter we announced that Sydney Trains and GT had together been named the 2013 ‘Merit Recipient of the Industrial Category’ for GT AIMS in support of the Sydney Trains Mechanised Track Patrol (MTP) process at the 2013 iAwards National Finals. MTP, a safety driven initiative at Sydney Trains, relies on GT AIMS to record digital still imagery of the corridor, track and rails for offline track inspection.
